We are committed to working with you as we progress through the Brainstorm Health® Programme to accurately and thoroughly investigate the areas that are specifically going to help your child the most.
It is important to understand that this work is a long-term strategy to move your child’s outcome significantly and change his or her life for the better. The relationship you will develop with your Brainstorm Health® team will be one that is a partnership and requires commitment from you and your family to follow your Health Plan and guidance in order to affect the change you seek for your child.
While the journey may be challenging at times, if you commit to the work – you will have an excellent chance of reaping the rewards of a healthier, happier child and experiencing the joyful impact that will have on your home-life.
Your journey with us
You can expect the following steps:
1. New-Patient Questionnaire
Prior to your first consultation with your Nutritional Therapist you will be asked to complete a confidential questionnaire, (online or in print). This is a really important stage in our process, as it comprehensively covers many areas, which we will review thoroughly prior to your first consultation. This way we can make the most of the time we have with you.
2. The First Consultation
This appointment will last approximately 75 minutes during which time we will discuss specific health concerns and review medical history as well as gain a thorough overview of your child’s eating habits, lifestyle, and family history. We will answer any questions you have at this point as well.
During this session your Nutritional Therapist will be identifying a list of tests that may need to be done to help clarify the health picture of your child and help with investigating underlying issues.
If you have already completed some tests which are relevant and recent then they will be taken into consideration.
3. Tests & Health Plan
After your first consultation, your Nutritional Therapist will put a comprehensive Health Plan together for you to follow with your child. This may include aspects such as:
- A list of modifications to make regarding eating, sleeping and toilet habits
- Meal plans and guidance about the most appropriate diet for your child
- Recommendations for laboratory testing (which we would order for you) based on health history and clinical picture
- A list of targeted supplements, nutraceuticals and herbs.
4. Review consultations and therapy
Once we have the results back from your tests, we work steadily through your Health Plan, approaching health issues functionally and work with you to address and support the body in a systematic way.
Through our many years of experience and working with more than 1500 children, we have found the best way to keep your child’s progress on track and achieve the health and developmental outcomes is to work in six to eight week increments of time (between appointments). This helps to keep you and your family motivated and on track to implementing healthy new habits and routines.
Once we have implemented some key- strategies, our review consultations move to a ten to a twelve-week window. Supporting families and ensuring a commitment to the protocol is key and can make an enormous difference to the outcome.
How long does the therapy last?
End-to-end you can expect the therapy to last between six and eight months. During this time, you will have attended between four and six consultations, and we may refer your child to work with one of our specialist team like Dr Marlow.
Once we get to the end of your plan, we will assess your child’s progress and support you in maintaining the changes going forward.
Where are the consultations carried out?
Consultations can be carried out in one of two ways – in person, at our Harley Street or Weymouth Street Clinics in London, or at our clinic in Bath, Somerset, or if travelling is difficult, we can offer our consultations by phone or Zoom. International consultations are carried out by Zoom (Download the free VoIP tool, Zoom).
